Course outline

Whereas in the Geography courses the focus is on the various relations existing between humankind and the environment and on spatially related structures, processes and disparities in economy and society, the B.Sc. course in Earth Studies concentrates on the origins, evolution and state of the Earth as a system, the circuitries of matter and energy taking place within it and the interaction between the geo-, bio-, atmo- and hydrospheres. The course deals with subject matter from the geoscientific disciplines Geology/Palaeontology, Mineralogy and Environmental Geochemistry and is designed to provide students with an in initial degree qualifying them for a profession in the relevant field and enabling them to solve subject-related problems independently.
