Abstract:
I will describe ways in which science rubs up against human nature, and what it takes from researchers and others to mitigate the damage to research and to society that can result. I will include climate change, vaccination and science itself as examples of problematic territories. I shall also describe the roles that editors of journals and magazines can play, based on experiences at the publication Nature.
